Scientists warn: cut emissions now to avoid climate tipping point
Countries need to act soon to cut carbon dioxide emissions if the worst impacts of global warming are to be avoided, warned a panel of scientists  speaking at a meeting of the American Geophysical Union. Carbon nanosheets promise super-fast chips
Atom-thick sheets of a carbon compound called graphene should smash the record for  room-temperature conductivity.  But at present it's hard to isolate pure layers of graphene suitable for industrial manufacture. Professor Walt de Heer at Georgia Tech & colleagues are working to overcome this problem. "We are able to 'grow' a canvas of material that has similar if not identical electrical properties" (full story...)
